Every October brings new ways to take part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month with different retailers donating a portion of their profits from merchandise to research and education. On the ConsumerWatch, Jeanette Pavini reports on how to shop for a cure.

Recycle For Breast Cancer
The E-Waste Recycling Center in San Ramon recycles items like cell phones, ink cartridges,
iPods, cameras, laptops, and TVs. Contact the program, and they will send you free shipping labels, envelopes, collection boxes, or a truck to come pick up your items. All net proceeds are donated to support the fight against breast cancer. Website:

Yoplait
Starting Sept. 1, save lids, wash them, and send them away. Each lid counts for 10 cents donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Sunchips
Every time you buy a specially marked package of Sunchips multigrain snacks, submit the special code printed on each bag by going to www.sunchips.com. For each code you submit through Dec. 15, 2006, 25 cents are donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
KitchenAid
For each pink KitchenAid item sold, KitchenAid donates 10 percent of the retail sales price* to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. *Donations made by KitchenAid for each pink item sold to a retailer (minimum guaranteed donation of $5,000).
Footlocker and Lady Footlocker Stores
Purchase an item from the limited edition awareness collection during the month of October, and the American Cancer Society will receive: $5 for Tee, Cap or Polo; $10 for Jacket.
Breast Cancer Research Foundation October Pink Buys

Target
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Target will make a charitable donation of $300,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in October. A sizable portion of this contribution will directly benefit and support the research of James N. Ingle, MD, head of breast cancer translational research at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Rochester, Minnesota. Target will be carrying select pink products from a variety of companies that benefit BCRF. Target guests can show their support by purchasing items such as the Dyson DC07 pink vacuum cleaner and a range of products from Wilson Sports Goods, including HOPE golf balls, tennis rackets and tennis balls.
Dress Barn
Every October, stores carry stuffed animal lambs called "Lela Ann Lu Lambs" for $6 and $2.50 of the proceeds go towards the American Cancer Society.
Aveda
With every purchase of Pink Ribbon Hand Relief, Aveda will donate $2, and Aveda Corporate will match the $2 donation to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Web site: www.aveda.com.

Buy from select bra brands and $1 will be donated to ACS beginning Oct. 1. We have fit events planned to assure women are wearing the correct sized bra in all stores Oct. 13 and 14.
